Breakfront oak bookcase.
CLIENT BRIEF:
To create a stunning bookcase with elegant design features. Special attention should be paid to reflecting design features of the Streatly fireplace. The client was worried that such as large piece of furniture would darken the end of the room and be overwhelming.
They wanted to get away from the minimalist features of the previous design of the room. They also wanted to integrate a Bang & Olfsten audio system and CDs.
THE PLAN:
To bring light to a large bookcase by integrating an overhanging cornice with integrated down-lights. Leave the central area recessed without a bookcase to create space and an ideal place to display art. Accommodate integrated electrical sockets and audio-visual wiring. Create a feature of the need for CD storage. Blend light coloured oak with darker pippy oak to create elegantly designed doors. Construct out of oak veneered boards, solid oak cornice and trim, solid oak counter-tops and pippy oak centre door panels.
THE FINAL PIECE:
A stunning piece of furniture that anchors a large warm drawing room.
THE VALUE:
£12,000
CUSTOMER COMMENTS:
"We are delighted with the new bookcase. It works so well with the new furniture in the rest of the room. Thank you for everything".
