Maple painted bedroom.
CLIENT BRIEF:
To create simple bedroom furniture that adds to the size of this barn-conversion bedroom. The client was concerned that the sloping ceilings would not allow the wardrobe space they needed. They also required ridged carcasses, and not the frame only designs often offered to overcome sloping ceilings.
THE PLAN:
To have cupboard doors reach down the floor, without a plinth, to create an uncluttered design. Keep a simple hand-painted Shaker design so as not to distract from the rustic beams and scale of the room. Supply a sleek set of of internal drawers, that match a thick-topped dressing table. Construct carcass out of MFC and the doors and drawer-fronts from solid maple.
THE FINAL PIECE:
A huge amount of wardrobe space that successfully utilises sloping ceilings. A light and open entry-area dressing table with contemporary table top and drawers.
THE VALUE:
£16,000
